COVID-19 BIC
The goal of the COVID-19 BIC Program is to educate patients about suicide risk following hospital or emergency room discharge, provide support and help them remain engaged in treatment. The program includes two primary components: a brief motivational intervention delivered by professionals prior to discharge and 9 long-term, regular BIC follow-up contacts delivered by trained volunteers over 18 months after discharge. The program is intended to compliment the care that patients receive as part of standard discharge care.
The COVID-19 BIC Program will take place on four different continents and in 18 different countries in collaboration with the Karolinska Institutet (Estokolm, Sweeden), the WHO (World Health Organization) and the WPA (World Psychiatric Association). In Brazil, the Study will take place in Lajeado (Univates).
